Mississippi has matched its highest number of reported COVID-19-related deaths in a single day with 32.
The Department of Health announced the confirmation of 217 new cases and 32 additional deaths related to the virus. The department explained that 5 of the reported deaths are from “prior weeks identified through death certificate investigation”.
The total number of cases now rises to 8,424 and 374 Mississippians have tragically passed away.
To date, over 80,000 people have been tested for COVID-19 in Mississippi, and with testing efforts ramping up, nearly 20,000 of those tests have been performed in the past week.
As of Monday, MSDH data shows that 4,421 Mississippians have recovered from the virus.
