The Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS) has announced that anybody seeking to enter one of Mississippi’s driver license offices must wear a mask.
The mandate will go into effect on Monday, July 13 and was put into place due to a recent increase in COVID-19 cases.
“We have to be diligent in our efforts to limit transmission of the virus,” recently-confirmed DPS Commissioner Sean Tindell said. “We also feel it is imperative to require a facemask be worn by all patrons and personnel inside driver license offices to accomplish that goal.”
Each location will continue to follow a daily schedule based on the first letter of customers’ last names.
- Monday: A-E
- Tuesday: F-L
- Wednesday: Firearm Permits, Security Guard Permits, Renewals, & Duplicates
- Thursday: M-S
- Friday: T-Z
Prior to this announcement, DPS was highly encouraging customers to wear masks.
