The 2020 ‘Mr. Football’ award winners have been announced by the Mississippi High School Activities Association.
The winners from each classification can be seen below:
Class 1A: Lumberton QB/RB Robert Henry (Senior) – The back-to-back recipient of the award, Henry has rushed for 1,440 yards, thrown for 419 and accounted for 27 total touchdowns. Lumberton is 8-1 and headed to the second round of the playoffs after McAdams was forced to forfeit Friday’s game.
Class 2A: Taylorsville QB Ty Keyes (Senior) – A three-time recipient, Keyes has the Tartars eyeing a state championship after completing 84 of 132 passes in the regular season with 1,552 yards and 16 TDs. Taylorsville faces Philadelphia in round two of the playoffs this Friday.
Class 3A: Magee QB Chandler Pittman (Senior) – Magee is 8-0 and headed to round two of the 3A playoffs thanks to Pittman and his 1,496 passing yards, 682 rushing yards and 26 total touchdowns.
Class 4A: Louisville DE Ty Cooper (Senior) – Cooper has been wreaking havoc on opposing offensive lines all season with 9 sacks, 2 QB hurries and 2 fumble recoveries for the Wildcats. Louisville faces New Albany this Friday.
Class 5A: Neshoba Central RB Jarquez Hunter (Senior) – In a state loaded with RB talent, Hunter is one the best with 1,767 yards and 22 touchdowns on the year. Neshoba Central is moving on to round two of the 5A playoffs after a Lafayette forfeit.
Class 6A: D’Iberville WR/DB Justin Walley (Senior) – Walley has played both ways for the Warriors as they enter the playoffs with an unblemished record. The senior has accounted for 1,200 all-purpose yards, 14 touchdowns, 2 interceptions and 2 blocked kicks. D’Iberville faces Petal this Friday.
The winners were selected by a statewide committee of high school coaches and media who cover high school football.
