Back in December, Google announced that they would be placing its first U.S. operations center in north Mississippi. Today, the tech giant announced which city the center will be located in.
Southaven, which is 15 minutes away from Memphis, will be the home of the new 60,000-square foot facility.
“I am truly honored and excited that Google has chosen to open their new operations in Mississippi,” Governor Tate Reeves said. “This is a true testament to our skilled workforce and the increasing economic strength of our great state. Mississippi and the Southaven community welcome Google with open arms, and we look forward to growing this partnership and creating opportunities for success for years to come.”
The center will be on Airways Boulevard once the construction process is completed. For the time being, Google will have a temporary office in Memphis.
The company plans to hire 100 employees by the end of 2020.
