For the third straight day, the Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting less than 1,000 new cases of COVID-19.
Today’s report of 644 new cases brings Mississippi’s total up to 68,293. With the confirmation of 33 additional deaths, 1,944 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus.
The latest hospital data (from Monday’s report) does show a decrease in overall hospitalizations and ICU bed usage.
The MSDH is now able to estimate that 49,836 Mississippians have recovered from COVID-19.
Today’s report is another encouraging sign after Governor Tate Reeves stated Monday that Mississippi’s 7-day rolling average is down to 932 — a 30% drop from July 30th. To ensure that number doesn’t go back up, the governor is encouraging everyone to stay alert and continue practicing the proper precautions such as social distancing and heeding the statewide mask mandate.
