An Oxford daycare center has been shut down by the Mississippi State Department of Health following the death of an infant.
The MSDH has severed an “emergency suspension/restriction of license” to Mother Goose of Oxford, Inc. after an 8-week-old infant died at the facility. Details surrounding the child’s death were not made available at this time, but the order states that “the facility has been determined to constitute a substantial hazard to the health and safety of infants entrusted to and cared for by said facility.”
As a result of the order, the facility must immediately cease and desist providing care or enrollment of infants. The Oxford Police Department is continuing to investigate the infant’s death along with the MSDH.
Mother Goose of Oxford, Inc. has held a license since 1999.
